Tenacy has 2 types of operational indicators:
Activity indicators
Performance indicators
Performance indicators have a calculated value of between 0 and 1 (0 to 100%). Performance indicators have a target to reach and a scale of representation, and their performance has an impact on the performance of the measures if these are linked to them.
They must always be seen in a positive way. Example: a performance indicator tends to approach a percentage close to 100% rather than 0%.
Create an indicator in Catalog tab
By creating an indicator in the catalog tab, you can create a model without instantiating it in your environment.
You can choose between creating an indicator from scratch or duplicating an indicator from the catalogue.
Duplicate a public indicator
Go to ⚙️ > Catalog > Indicators. Locate the indicator you wish to duplicate and click on Create copy.
🔎 Once your copy has been created, it will have exactly the same properties as the catalogue indicator (including the ID). The only distinction is made in the Type column, as your copy is now considered a ‘private’ indicator, i.e. not present in our catalogue.
You can now configure all the fields linked to your new indicator:
The latter retains the association with the measures. You can therefore change this.
🔎 You are under no obligation to associate one or more measures with your new template indicator. It is important to do so if, and only if, you want this indicator to have an impact on the performance of your associated measures and for the metrics associated with your indicator to be collected when a recurring task is performed.
⚠️ When you configure the formula for your new indicator when creating it in the catalogue, only the private metrics in the catalogue can be added to the formula.
If you wish to create an indicator with both internal and private metrics, create the indicator directly in the Dashboards module (see below).
Create an indicator from scratch
Still in the catalogue, click on Add indicator:
To find out more about the various fields to be completed, go to the section below.
Create an indicator in Dashboard module
From the Dashboard module > Indicators tab, you can find all the indicators currently instantiated in your environment.
You can duplicate an existing indicator and change its properties to suit your needs.
Set your indicator
General settings
You therefore have several fields to fill in:
Name: name of your indicator, which will be used to display the blocks of a dashboard.
Identifier: 20 characters max. Leave blank for automatic generation.
Frequency: Daily to yearly. This defines how often the indicator is calculated. An annual indicator is calculated 1x per year, a monthly indicator 1x per month, etc.
Type : Performance
Target value: The performance indicators have a target of between 0 and 100.
🔎 An indicator with a target of 80% and a value of 80% will therefore have a performance of 100%.
Indicator scale: Scale used to graphically represent the target value. The solution natively offers five types of scale:
Formula: Formula used to calculate the indicator. Type ! followed by a name to search for a metric and use the operators for your formula. Operators supported: ( ) + - / *.
Advanced settings
Within an indicator, you can access its advanced settings by clicking on Advanced settings:
This allows you to :
Limit the scope for computation: Allows you to limit the calculation of the indicator to a perimeter or group of perimeters within your organization.
Category: Allows you to assign a category to an indicator. This feature allows you to filter your indicators by category in the Dashboards module > Indicators tab.
Perimeter aggregation: When the indicator is calculated over several perimeters, the values of a metric for each perimeter will be aggregated. By default, ‘sum’ is selected. Other properties can be selected: sum, average, minimum, maximum, median, etc.
Temporal aggregation: For a metric with a lower periodicity, choose how the values will be aggregated over time. If not specified, the activity indicators will use the sum. Other properties can be selected: sum, average, last value, minimum, maximum, median, etc.
Example of a perimeter aggregation
We would like to monitor this indicator on 2 perimeters. Currently, by default, the average of the 2 perimeters gives us the value of the indicator. And the target value is 100%.
Today, we would like to track the sum of the indicator over the 2 perimeters.
We therefore modify the advanced settings to specify ‘sum’ in the Perimeter aggregation field:
After recalculating the indicator, we obtain a value of 48.1%, which is the sum of our 2 perimeters according to the metrics entered:
This calculates the sum of the metrics for each perimeter, and these values are then included in the final calculation of the indicator.
Example of a time perimeter
We monitor the awareness of IT employees in our organization by means of a performance indicator for the Lyon area. The target value is 100%:
Today, in view of the metrics completed and the target value, our indicator shows a value of 56.7%.
However, we would like to aggregate this indicator over time, in particular for the monthly value of freelance employees, in order to use the latest value provided for the calculation.
According to the values reported, the last monthly value for this metric is 2. This value is therefore taken into account for the calculation of our indicator:
This gives a final calculation for 2024: 30/(50+2): 57.7%
