Tenacy has 2 types of operational indicators:
Activity indicators
Performance indicators
The activity indicators give an unbounded number of values. These indicators are not used to calculate the performance of the measures.
🔎 Example: Endpoints (INV.I06) is calculated as a number. Depending on the size of your organization, the value may vary in thousands. This indicator therefore has no impact on the performance of your Identity Management (TE039). However, it may be useful to display it in a dashboard to monitor its evolution and help you manage your Identity Management.
Create an indicator in Catalog tab
By creating an indicator in the catalog tab, you can create a model without instantiating it in your environment.
You can choose between creating an indicator from scratch or duplicating an indicator from the catalogue.
Duplicate a public indicator
Go to ⚙️ > Catalog > Indicators. Locate the indicator you wish to duplicate and click on Create copy.
🔎 Once your copy has been created, it will have exactly the same properties as the catalogue indicator (including the ID). The only distinction is made in the Type column, as your copy is now considered a ‘private’ indicator, i.e. not present in our catalogue.
You can now configure all the fields linked to your new indicator:
The latter retains the association with the measures. You can therefore change this.
🔎 You are under no obligation to associate one or more measures with your new template indicator. It is important to do so if, and only if, you want this indicator to have an impact on the performance of your associated measures and for the metrics associated with your indicator to be collected when a recurring task is performed.
Create an indicator from scratch
Still in the catalogue, click on Add indicator:
To find out more about the various fields to be completed, go to the section below.
Create an indicator in Dashboard module
From the Dashboard module > Indicators tab, you can find all the indicators currently instantiated in your environment.
You can duplicate an existing indicator and change its properties to suit your needs.
Set your indicator
General settings
You therefore have several fields to fill in:
Name: name of your indicator, which will be used to display the blocks of a dashboard.
Identifier: 20 characters max. Leave blank for automatic generation.
Frequency: Daily to yearly. This defines how often the indicator is calculated. An annual indicator is calculated 1x per year, a monthly indicator 1x per month, etc.
Type : Activity
Target value: It is possible to define a target for the display, but there is no associated performance scale for activity indicators.
Formula: Formula used to calculate the indicator. Type ! followed by a name to search for a metric and use the operators for your formula. Operators supported: ( ) + - / *.
Description: We invite you to describe your indicator in order to document your management.
Advanced settings
Within an indicator, you can access its advanced settings by clicking on Advanced settings:
This allows you to :
Limit the scope for computation: Allows you to limit the calculation of the indicator to a perimeter or group of perimeters within your organization.
Category: Allows you to assign a category to an indicator. This feature allows you to filter your indicators by category in the Dashboards module > Indicators tab.
Perimeter aggregation: When the indicator is calculated over several perimeters, the values of a metric for each perimeter will be aggregated. By default, ‘sum’ is selected. Other properties can be selected: sum, average, minimum, maximum, median, etc.
Temporal aggregation: For a metric with a lower periodicity, choose how the values will be aggregated over time. If not specified, the activity indicators will use the sum. Other properties can be selected: sum, average, last value, minimum, maximum, median, etc.
