Do you need to manage an operational task that isn't directly related to implementing or improving a security measure?
That's exactly what a simple action is for. It lets you manage this kind of task directly from your action plans, with no impact on your compliance scores.
⚠️ An action plan must already exist to hold your simple action. If no action plan has been created yet, start by creating one from the Action Plans module.
💡 On a supplier or application perimeter, only the simple action is available: since these perimeters cannot carry a security measure, no implementation or improvement action is possible there.
Step 1: Access the Action Plans module
In the left navigation bar, click Action Plans.
Step 2: Open the relevant action plan
Click on the action plan in which you want to create the action.
Step 3: Add a new "Simple" action
Click "+ Add an action". In the creation modal that opens, select the "Simple" action type.
💡 Three action types are available in this modal: Implementation (implement a measure not yet deployed), Improvement (improve the efficiency of an already implemented measure), and Simple (not linked to any measure). Select this last type here.
Step 4: Fill in the action details
Complete the form fields:
Title: name of the action (for example: Update the security policy)
Status: current state of the action
Perimeter: the perimeter the action is attached to
Owner: user or group responsible for carrying it out
Priority: priority level of the action
Start / target date: optional at creation
💡 If you fill in a date, the action automatically switches to "Planned" status. Without a date, it stays in "To plan" status until you set one.
Step 5: Confirm the creation
Click "Save". The action appears in the action plan with the status "To plan" (or "Planned" if dates were filled in).
Frequently asked questions
Does a simple action affect my compliance scores?
No. Since a simple action is not linked to any security measure, it isn't included in any security base score calculation. It's used purely for operational tracking of the task, and can be reported on in your dashboards.
Can I turn a simple action into an implementation or improvement action?
Yes. From the relevant action plan, open the "Action association" menu (accessible from the action plan's 3-dot menu) to associate the action with a measure: it then becomes an implementation or improvement action, depending on what you choose.
What's the difference between a simple action and an implementation action?
An implementation action is always attached to a security measure that hasn't been deployed yet. A simple action isn't attached to any measure: it's used to manage internal tasks (organization, awareness campaigns, project tracking) with no effect on scores.
Do I need to set a perimeter for a simple action?
Yes. As with other action types, the relevant perimeter must be set in the creation form.
